Flock ‘n Fun

No chickens currently available

Unfortunately, no chickens are currently available, and we do not sell eggs.

Our first small batch of chicks for the 2026 breeding season hatched in mid-July, so we realistically expect to have chickens available again towards the end of 2026 or in early 2027.

New availability will be announced in our WhatsApp group.

This is a hobby. We breed purely for show purposes and for the love of our breeds and colourful eggs. The chickens we offer are surplus chickens from our breeding programmes.

The reality of breeding chickens to show standards is that more than a hundred chickens may need to be bred to produce only a handful of show-quality chickens. Any surplus show-quality chickens will be offered at auction through GEPA, although this is very rarely the case.

This means that most of the chickens produced will not be suitable for showing or for breeding show chickens. We offer these as pet-quality chickens to backyard chicken keepers and breeders who would like to enjoy a colourful egg basket.

We primarily offer pet-quality pullets (12 weeks+) and pet-quality hens (12 months+) as availability allows.

Our flock has been genetically tested and selectively bred over several generations, which gives us a reliable understanding of what to expect from our breeding lines. We therefore no longer attempt to confirm the exact egg colour produced by every individual chicken before it is offered. Isolating each pullet and waiting for her to begin laying to confirm her egg colour is not practical and delays the whole process.

Our pet-quality chickens consist of Easter Eggers and Olive Eggers from our crosses, hybrids and breeding projects and also include Ameraucanas, Marans, Leghorns, Silverudd’s Blues, and Wyandottes that do not meet breed standards. These chickens may have discrepancies in eye colour, feather colour, leg colour or other characteristics that prevent them from being classified as show-quality examples of their respective breeds. They are therefore designated as pet-quality backyard chickens. The term “pet-quality” relates to how closely they conform to the breed standard and does not make them any less suitable as enjoyable and productive backyard chickens.

Chickens are offered only after we have selected those we intend to retain for our own breeding programmes, thus available stock is limited. Availability depends on the breeding season, and there may be several months, or occasionally almost a year, between offerings.

Please note that we do not run a petting zoo. For biosecurity reasons, we no longer allow people to visit and view our flock. We have learnt some hard lessons that way.

Pullet & Hen Collections

We curate small collections of pet-quality pullets (12 weeks+) and, when available, pet-quality hens (12 months+). These collections are intended for backyard chicken keepers who want a colourful egg basket. See the list of possible egg colour variants.

The collections are offered only as and when we have chickens available, after we have decided what to keep from the breeding season. When a collection is posted, it will include photos of the chickens, their age category, expected egg colour, the price, and any relevant details.

Current prices for pet-quality collections and add-ons.

Bulk discounts apply to collection groups of 3, 4, 5, and 6. A duo of pullets or hens, or a standalone rooster or cockerel, has no discount. When chickens are added to a collection, the collection add-on discount applies so the final price aligns with taking the larger group from the start, where applicable.

How to Book on the WhatsApp Group

When an offering is posted, it will include photos of the available chickens, the type of offering, the quantity available, the price, and all relevant details.
Please do not react to the post, as we use reactions to track availability.

  • If the offering is not what you want, feel free to pass on it.
  • If you would like to book, reply privately to the image or post with the word “booked”. It is important to reply directly to the post, since more than one collection might be posted at the same time.
  • Remember to reply “booked” to your add-ons as well, such as a duo, rooster, or cockerel, as these could also be booked separately by someone else.

We handle bookings privately to avoid any pressure or intimidation.

After requesting a booking, please wait for confirmation.
The 🟠 reaction will be added to the group post to indicate that we have received a booking request.
If you are contacted shortly thereafter, your booking was successful. If not, the chickens have been booked by someone else.
We will then confirm your booking and add-ons. Once confirmed, the relevant post or posts will be marked with a ❌ reaction.
If the offering becomes available again for any reason, the reaction will be updated to ✅ to indicate availability.
